Let's Talk about Libra

Libra comes from the some root word as library and in fact, Libras tend to love books and can often be found milling about bookstores, poring over to
mes.
Libra is an AIR sign, emphasizing the qualities of the mental realm. Libra is a thinking sign, expressing the energy of weighing alternatives and values, seeking balance in thought before taking action.
We are in the harvest time of Libra, balancing out and measuring what we have planted, grown, and now harvested. Libra is the sign of the scales, a measurement tool that has been used for centuries.
The interesting thing about using scales for measuring is that whatever you are measuring can only be measured IN RELATION to something else. The scales are only valid tools for measurement if BOTH sides of the scales are used. From this comes the cornerstone meaning of LIBRA: RELATIONSHIP.
Libra is the ruler of the 7th house, the house of contractual relationships: marriage, business partnerships, and even sworn enemies.
Sometimes you see the sign of Libra depicted as Blind Justice holding the scales. This attests to the qualities of fairness, justice, and equality, which is also attributed to the constellational energy of Libra.
Libra gives the gift of good judgment. In the process of judging, all sides need to be considered. This is also why Libra natives (those born with the Sun in Libra) can have such a hard time making up their minds! So many choices!
Libra is ruled by the planet Venus, lending sweet and pleasing qualities to Librans. We ALL have some Libra influence in our charts. Look to where Libra falls in your chart. This is where the Libra qualities will manifest in you.

Mercury Retrograde
24 September 2008 - 15 October 2008
Three times a year the planet Mercury goes retrograde for about
3 weeks. There's always quite a buzz about Mercury retrograde. Let's buzz about it too so you can be IN THE KNOW.
Mercury is the planet of communication, the messenger with wings on his feet. Mercury is the ruler of both Gemini AND Virgo, depicting not only his chattiness but his discernment as well. As we know, communication is the most powerful tool we have to be in community (notice the same root to both these words, suggesting a coming together). We are pretty lonely without communication. We need it. We crave it. We must have it. And...we LOVE it!
So much of our world today is about mastering and refining our mastery of communication techniques, making communications ever faster and more efficient. Mercury romps about on center stage for this frenzy of communing, living he limelight and the sheer frenzy of it all,
which can get QUITE out of hand during a retrograde period.
When a planet goes retrograde, from our perception here on Earth, it appears to be going backward. When a planet goes retrograde it tends to bring focus to the areas of that planet's domain, slowing down the processes, giving us time to re-evaluate and mull over the areas that that planet addresses. In Mercury's case it would be: communications, relationships with siblings, and how we go about doing the machinations of our daily routines.
When Mercury goes retrograde we usually experience glitches and mess-ups in communications and contracts. We humans just LOVE to think that we have things under control, busily structuring our lives to fit all the ways we think it should be. Mercury likes to remind us that that is all just not true - too bad for us frenetic humans!!
During a Mercury retrograde period appointments are missed, travel arrangements can go askew, contracts signed become a joke (or a HUGE hassle), and equipment purchased will need to be returned. Mercury is a trickster and a mischief maker par excellence. You can never outwit him or outsmart him. All you can do is take some precautions and keep laughing all the way to your appointment, which will be on the wrong day.
During Mercury retrograde magic is afoot so go for that. Go for magic and unplanned turn of events. Lighten up and enjoy the ride. Weeeeee!

Advice for
Mercury Retrograde
Stay flexible and forgiving
Don't sign any contracts. If you HAVE to - triple check all the small print.
Don't buy any electric or electronic equipment.
If you HAVE to - save the receipts.
You'll probably be returning the items.
Go on vacation. When you're on vacation, who cares about the crap we usually care about?
Do something magical EVERY DAY.
